Development and better adaption of health care to demographic and epidemiological trends

Value of the programme from the Norway Grants: EUR 58 000 000

Purpose and areas of support
Implemented projects will aim at:

  • amelioration of perinatal care – preventive services, diagnostics and treatment with a view to increase the number of births,
  • better adaptation of health care in order to meet needs of the fast-growing population of chronically-ill and dependant elderly persons,
  • cancer prevention aimed at reducing cancer morbidity and mortality indicator in Poland.

The program provides for investment in infrastructure, purchase of equipment, training of medical staff, as well as health promotion and disease prevention programmes.

Under the programme will support the following activities:

  • purchase of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment,
  • building, extension, rebuilding, refurbishing (modernisation) of health care institutions,
  • trainings for medical personnel,
  • health education and health promotion,
  • organization of health education and health promotion events,
  • conduction of examinations.

Selection of projects
An open call for proposals will be conducted.

Eligible beneficiaries

  • public and non-public health care institutions providing health services financed from public funds and their founding institutions,
  • public health care institutions transformed into capital companies,
  • research  institutions functioning in the health care system,
  • medical universities or public universities conducting didactic and research activity in the  medical science,
  • long term care centers financed from public funds and their founding institutions,
  • non-governmental organisations operating in the health care field.

Grant amount and co-financing level
Value of the grant: from EUR 300 000 to EUR 6 000 000. Co-financing level: up to 80% of eligible project costs.
